We took the bike to Orleans cycle where they were wonderful.
Always eager and willing to help, even on their busiest days I've always been met with a smile. They're knowledge is vast and they're friendly attitude make it so I don't want to go anywhere else.
This is NOT a place that I would ever recommend. From our initial encounter with the owner or manager to the final one, it had a bad “flavor.”
We went back to the shop where the tech apologized and was going to try another tube…a reasonable attempt to see if the tube had been defective or the tire was the problem. The owner was adamant that it was a defective tire and refused to try a new tube. He wanted to sell us another tire, (or preferably two?) Our problem was not really about the solution he proposed, although we disagreed with it, our problem was with his attitude. We decided that this man was unaccommodating at best and untrustworthy at worst.
Friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Good bikes and great repair technician
John went above and beyond to help me 30 minutes after he was suppose to close and he didn't even charge me a dime
First, we walked in the front of the shop with a bike that had a flat. We told the owner this and, without making eye contact, he said “Take it around to the side.” He could have said “Hello” or “This is the rental side. Would you mind taking it around to the side?” No big deal but this unpleasant approach continued when we had a problem.
Our best guess is that the tube was improperly installed (since the bike and tire were new and didn’t have that many miles on them). Either way, it’s clear that Rail Trail management is willing to take your money but not very interested if you have an issue.
The very nice bike tech replaced the tube and said we had had a slow leak near the valve. We paid $16 labor (for 10 minutes) and ~$7 for the tube, put the bike on our bike rack and went on our way. About a half mile down the road, we heard what sounded like a gunshot. The tube had blown.
Decent selection of Endura gear and Cloud9 saddles. Prices were good and it's located right on the rail trail.
